Vietnam receives $11.8m JICA grant for cancer hospital in Hanoi

The given fund will focus on improving the facility’s medical equipment.

Vietnam’s National Cancer Hospital is set to receive a grant of $11.8m (JPY1.8b) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a project focused on future improvements.

The project will involve the provision of medical equipment such as a PET/CT system, MRI and CT scanner, angiography system, mammography, and a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) amongst others.

Moreover, the grant will also allow for improvements to the hospital’s facilities.

Meanwhile, the project’s planned implementation period is set to 60 months, including detailed design work, the bidding period, and the maintenance contract.

According to JICA, the initiative aims to contribute to Vietnam’s development of a resilient healthcare system through improved cancer diagnosis and prevention systems.
