What to expect with Australia’s $739m Frankston Hospital Redevelopment?
A new 13-bed short-stay unit has opened in the facility.
Main works on Australia’s $739m (A$1.1b) Frankston Hospital redevelopment are expected to be completed in late 2025, with the upgraded facility expected to treat approximately 35,000 more patients annually.
The government has announced the completion of a new 13-bed short-stay unit at the redevelopment, intended for patients requiring treatment and monitoring for less than 24 hours.
Its completion facilitates the continuation of the emergency department expansion, which will include a dedicated paediatric zone and a mental health and alcohol and other drugs hub.
The redevelopment will also introduce 12 levels of clinical services, 130 more beds, and a rooftop helipad. New spaces for oncology services, along with 15 new operating theatres, will also be included.
