South Korea extends healthcare cooperation with Turkmenistan, Paraguay and Mongolia

The cooperation covers medical provision, training programmes and academic exchanges.

South Korea strengthened cooperation with Turkmenistan, Paraguay and Mongolia in the healthcare sector to streamline traditional Korean medicine, training programmes for healthcare professionals, and academic exchanges.

Unveiled during the bilateral meetings of Medical Korea 2024, the cooperation with Paraguay covers areas of cooperation, such as universal coverage, prevention of infectious diseases, and healthcare industries including medical devices.

For Mongolia, the expansion of the coordination includes the training of Mongolian healthcare professionals and hosting Mongolian patients, allowing Mongolians to have continued access to ROK’s outstanding healthcare services.

Last year, South Korea hosted 14,148 Mongolian patients in 2022, accounting for 5.7% of all foreign patients in the year.

“The Medical Korea conference and the bilateral meetings allowed us to spread awareness of the ROK’s outstanding medical technologies and products. I hope these outcomes will serve as a foothold for further cooperation and exchanges with the respective countries in medical services,” Deputy Minister Kim Hye-jin said.
