South Korea and Sweden discuss health and welfare cooperation
Both recognised the need to address the rapidly ageing population.
South Korean Minister of Health and Welfare (MOHW) Cho Kyoo-hong met with Swedish Minister for the Elderly and Social Security Anna Tenje to discuss cooperation on issues related to ageing societies and broader health and welfare challenges.
Both ministers recognised the need for multifaceted policy development to address the challenges of rapidly ageing populations, with Tenje highlighting key areas such as pensions, elderly care, and dementia.
Meanwhile, Cho expressed his expectations for practical measures to implement the revised memorandum of understanding on health and welfare cooperation, which was revised and signed in 2019.
The memorandum covers health policy, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, dementia, antimicrobial resistance, and the application of AI and ICT in healthcare amongst others.
