South Korea and China eye stronger cooperation in healthcare

The two countries also discussed a joint response to global public health crises.

South Korea’s Park Minsoo, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and China’s National Health Commission Vice Minister, Wang Hesheng have discussed ways to strengthen healthcare cooperation, including joint response to global public health crises.

Both sides have agreed to actively take part in discussions and take shared positions on current issues at the World Health Organization (WHO) level, including discussions on the Pandemic Treaty.

Meanwhile, Park has proposed the regular implementation of exchange programs and cooperation between the countries for rapid and effective response to infectious diseases and disasters.

In response, Wang welcomed the proposal by emphasising the importance of both countries’ roles in building global health governance.
