South Korea and Africa discuss global healthcare workforce

Other discussions include vaccine and biotechnology cooperation.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare in South Korea and the African Development Bank (AfDB) discussed collaboration between the two economies such as official development assistance and Korea’s role in the training of the global healthcare workforce.

South Korea also discussed existing MOUs expressing his aspiration for the two sides to further expand cooperation.

The AfDB requested the meeting to expand cooperation with the Korean government.

AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina said they shared experiences and achievements in vaccines and biotechnology and confirmed the commitment to greater cooperation between South Korea and Africa.

In response, Minister KyooHong Cho proposed the AfDB participate in the World Bio Summit co-hosted by the World Health Organization and the Republic of Korea in November 2023 to discuss how to prepare for the next pandemic.
