South Korea allocates $40m to address national health challenges in ARPHA-H initiative

The government will provide $40m (KRW55b) in research funding over the next five years.

South Korea has announced the launch of the ARPHA-H initiative to address national challenges in the sectors of health security, welfare, and care.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), this initiative is modelled after the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).

Part of the project includes an investment of approximately $40m (KRW55b) in research funding over the next five years.

The funding will be aimed towards the development of ultra-long-term vaccine storage technology, the establishment of a decentralised vaccine production system, and progress on multi-modal therapeutic techniques for sarcopenia.
