South Australia begins construction of $2.07b New Women's and Children's Hospital project

The new project is set to be a 100% electric public hospital.

The Government of South Australia (SA) has announced the construction of the $2.07b (A$3.2b) New Women's and Children's Hospital (New WCH) project in Adelaide.

Its initial stage package valued at almost $200m (AU$306m) includes hospital site work focused on developing a two-storey central energy facility and a 1300-space car park.

The hospital is set to be fully electric with 414 overnight beds, and an emergency department with 43 treatment spaces, advanced surgical suites, and a helipad on the site.
