Singapore unveils new tertiary centre for cancer rehabilitation

The new facility features a multi-disciplinary team that will provide care plans for each patient.

Singapore has launched a new tertiary facility that provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation care for cancer patients.

The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) - Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) Rehabilitation Centre is set to offer clinical and rehabilitation services to newly diagnosed patients and those who have completed their treatments.

“We are pleased to partner with the SCS to set up the NCCS-SCS Rehabilitation Centre to provide cancer rehabilitation that is part of each patient’s overall treatment plan so that they have support to improve their quality of life from treatment to recovery and long-term survivorship,” Lim Soon Thye, Chief Executive Officer of the NCCS, said.

The new centre features a team of healthcare professionals including rehabilitation medicine physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and speech therapists who will work together to provide care plans that consider symptoms and related side effects.

“We believe this resource will benefit many cancer patients and survivors to keep healthy and well in the years to come,” Lim added.
