Royal Melbourne Hospital installs solar panels to cut energy costs and emissions

These are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 400 tonnes annually.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital has installed over 500 solar panels at three of its sites to reduce energy costs and cut carbon dioxide emissions.

The solar panels are now operational at Boyne Russell and Cyril Jewell House, both residential aged care facilities, and RMH Royal Park. It will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 400 tonnes annually.

“It was truly motivating to be involved in the effort to reduce our environmental impact and be part of a project that will contribute significantly to our sustainability goals,” said project manager Tugce.

“This will help us improve our energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which is a step towards a more sustainable future,” he continued.

The initiative was funded by the Victorian Health Building Authority through the Victorian Government's Energy Efficiency and Solar Program.
