Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care acquires Manipal Hospital Klang

It is looking to rebrand the 220-bed Malaysian hospital.

Kuala Lumpur-based Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) is acquiring 100% of Manipal Hospitals, Klang at an undisclosed amount in a share purchase agreement with Manipal Health Enterprises (MHEPL), according to a press release.

RSDH, which is equally owned by Sime Darby Berhad and Australia’s Ramsay Health Care, acquired the facility from MHEPL’s wholly-owned Singapore subsidiary, Manipal Health Enterprises International.

The acquisition will see the rebranding of the 220 bed capacity hospital, which is located close several residential areas in the Bukit Tinggi township in Klang, into a tertiary care private facility which geographically complements RSDH’s other healthcare facilities.

The hospital was established in 2016 as a purpose-built facility with over 30 specialty services and Klang’s only trauma centre. Its tertiary medical care ranges from cardiology, nephrology and neurosurgery to plastic surgery, psychiatry and dental.

The 7-storey building is currently equipped with five operating theatres as well as 15 CCU and ICU beds. It also has a 1.5T MRI scanner, catheterisation laboratory and emergency service. It occupies a built-up area of 362,000 sq ft with more than 300 car park bays.

With the acquisition, RSDH owns four hospitals in Malaysia. The hospitals under the Group currently include Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Ara Damansara Medical Centre and ParkCity Medical Centre.
