PR status granted to over 1,200 foreign medical workers: MOH

They were granted permanent residency over the past five years.

The majority who were granted are nurses, and the others include doctors, allied health professionals, and other healthcare workers, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a parliamentary QA.

The ministry was addressing a question about the healthcare manpower of Singapore.

“In the past year, more nurses were granted PR status, in recognition of the essential role they played in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and in preparation to support Singapore’s growing healthcare needs,” it said.

MOH said they also consider foreign healthcare workers as an integral part of Singapore’s healthcare system.

On July 5, seniors can start their enrolment with HealthierSG, the city-state’s new healthcare reform.

So far, over 47,000 of these residents have been pre-enroled in HealthierSG.
