Port Macquarie Hospital recruits for Safe Staffing initiative
The facility has begun the recruitment of 13 FTE nurses.
Australia’s Port Macquarie Base Hospital has begun the Safe Staffing Levels initiative rollout in its emergency department (ED).
This follows the government’s goal of the equivalent of 2,480 full-time employees over four years towards staffing levels.
In line with this, the regional hospital has commenced recruitment for approximately 13 full-time equivalent (FTE) nurses to meet the initiative’s requirements.
Meanwhile, the Lismore Base Hospital is also currently undertaking recruitment as part of the initiative.
“The rollout began earlier this year at Liverpool Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospitals, with Port Macquarie Base Hospital and Lismore Base Hospital now coming on board,” Regional Health Minister, Ryan Park, said.
Phase one of the initiative has begun in Level 5 and Level 6 EDs, which treat the most critically ill patients, and will be progressively implemented across other hospitals and departments.
Moreover, the Safe Staffing Levels Taskforce will review the initial rollout at these facilities to help inform future sites.
