Pormpuraaw Primary Health Care Centre’s construction to begin early 2025

It will feature six outpatient consult rooms, a dental suite, and a culturally appropriate morgue.

The Australian government has announced that the main construction of the Pormpuraaw Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) will start in early 2025, with preliminary works beginning this year.

Located in Far North Queensland, the centre will feature an emergency section with a procedure and resuscitation room, a treatment space, mobile X-ray facilities, and a decontamination shower.

The new facility will also include six outpatient consult rooms, a dental suite, a pathology room, a medical records area, and a culturally appropriate morgue.

According to the government, the centre is expected to be completed by mid-2026, with community consultation and engagement undertaken before the project’s final design.
