Philippines to unveil $27.1m eight-storey hospital building in South Cotabato
The new facility will feature operating rooms, burn units, and general intensive care units.
The Philippines is set to establish an eight-storey hospital building within the SOCCSKSARGEN General Hospital (SGH) in Surallah, South Cotabato.
With a total cost of approximately $27.1m (PHP1.59b), the medical facility will feature operating rooms, burn units, and general intensive care units.
Meanwhile, SGH Medical Centre chief, Dr Cecil Magbanua-Borromeo, shared that the project’s first phase will encompass the proposed building’s ground level which will house a delivery room complex, as well as a dietary and neonatal intensive care unit.
"The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh floors will be the medical wards. The eighth floor will be for multiple purposes, maybe including an auditorium," Magbanua-Borromeo said.
She further stated that the building’s construction has been proposed for a multi-year contractual authority (MYCA), in which funds will be allocated annually until the project’s completion, once approved by the country’s Budget and Management department.
