Philippines increases package rate for hemodialysis services

The new rate will apply to public and private units.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has increased the hemodialysis package rate from $71.35 (PHP4k) to $113.28 (PHP6.35k) per session.

According to the country’s Department of Health (DOH), the approved rate will apply to both public and private dialysis units.

Moreover, private dialysis units will be allowed to charge out-of-pocket fees for services beyond the minimum standards of care, with nephrologists permitted to bill an additional professional fee of up to $8 (PHP450).

“The next step will be a detailed PhilHealth Circular and operationalisation by PhilHealth Management to ensure that the higher rate can already be claimed,” the agency said.
