Parkway Pantai snaps up Amanjaya Specialist Centre
It eyes to expand its portfolio in Malaysia.
Parkway Pantai, a part of IHH Healthcare, has acquired a 100% stake in the 98-bed Amanjaya Specialist Centre in Kedah, Malaysia.
The Amanjaya Specialist Centre is the first hospital in Malaysia to incorporate green technology and design in its construction and operations. The deal allows Parkway Pantai to cater to patient volume growth at its wholly owned 118-bed Pantai Hospital Sungai Petani, which is also located in Kedah.
“Amanjaya Specialist Centre is a good fit with Parkway Pantai’s healthcare portfolio in Malaysia. The acquisition enables us to grow our healthcare services at Pantai Hospital Sungai Petani, which is operating at near maximum capacity. With the acquisition, Parkway Pantai will streamline and synergise the operations and services at Pantai Hospital Sungai Petani and Amanjaya Specialist Centre to better serve the patients in Kedah,” said Joe Sim, CEO of Malaysia Operations Division.
The acquisition will not affect clinical services at both hospitals. The Amanjaya Specialist Centre will be renamed accordingly in the coming months to allow it to leverage the brand name and 40-year history of Parkway Pantai.
Parkway Pantai operates 10 Pantai Hospitals and four Gleneagles Hospitals across Malaysia. Pantai Hospital Sungai Petani, acquired in 2009, is a 118-bed multidisciplinary specialist hospital offering a range of services including general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiology, ophthalmology and orthopaedics.
