New Bukit Batok centre leverages robotics for rehabilitation therapy

It also adopts a stroke rehabilitation programme for elderly patients.

St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) has launched a new centre at Bukit Batok, Singapore that leverages robotics technology for rehabilitation therapies.

According to SLEC, the centre’s robotics equipment features virtual reality and gamification elements to promote stimulation and precise movement assistance.

“Our goal is to support ageing in communities by leveraging advanced technology and robotics,  alongside personalised rehabilitation plans by our therapists,” SLEC CEO, Kenny Tan, said.

Moreover, the centre adopts the group’s trademarked I-Shall programme, a comprehensive stroke rehabilitation plan developed by a multi-disciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.

The programme focuses on restoring and maintaining upper limb and hand function for elderly patients.

“We want to ensure as many elders as possible can access the care they need conveniently and comfortably, close to home,” Tan added.
