New $3.2m renal dialysis unit opens in Kowanyama

Initially, the facility will accommodate up to three patients. 

The Australian government has announced the completion of a $3.2m (A$4.76m) four-chair assisted renal dialysis unit in Kowanyama, Queensland.

The new unit is an extension of the existing Kowanyama Primary Healthcare Centre and includes consultation and storage spaces, as well as communications room.

The facility will initially accommodate up to three patients, with plans to increase capacity to 16 as demand grows.
