NDCS and NYP ink MoU to boost digital dentistry

The partnership offers internships and learning journeys on CAD/CAM and dentofacial imaging.

The National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to prepare biomedical engineering students for using digital technologies in dentistry.

The MoU will offer internships and learning journeys for students to gain insights into computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and dentofacial imaging in dentistry.

“Digital dentistry is a rapidly growing field that has gained significant traction in recent years. Advancements in technology have greatly expanded its applications and capabilities, leading to its emergence as a distinct field within dentistry.” Goh Bee Tin, Chief Executive Officer of NDCS, said.

“Through this MOU, we hope to train and empower a pipeline of talent that will redefine and elevate the landscape of dental care in Singapore," Goh added.

The first learning journey will commence on 31 May with 20 to 30 biomedical engineering students set to visit NDCS where its clinical engineers will share their work experience in the Digital Dentistry Unit.

Meanwhile, Internship placement at NDCS is planned between the end of the year and early 2025.
