National Health Commission expands paediatric medical resources across China

The expansion will include seven new hospitals and an additional 67 clinic specialties.

The National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China has pushed for improvements in children's health services and accessibility to quality pediatric medical resources, according to a report by Xinhua.

The advancements will involve the construction of two national and five regional children's medical centres, and the additional support for 67 key pediatric clinical specialties.

National Health Commission official Li Dachuan claimed that each provincial-level region has been mandated to institute a high-level hospital centred on children's health care or a high-level paediatrics department in a comprehensive hospital by 2024.

In addition, China will also expand its 24-hour green channel and integrated pediatric services in medical institutions, as well as standardised training for paediatric physicians.
