Malaysian health minister urges hospitals to roll out mobile clinics

Ahmad thinks mobile clinics can help alleviate congestion at existing hospitals.

More private hospitals should consider setting up mobile clinics as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, Malaysian Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said.

Speaking at the opening of the Sutera Mobile Clinic, Ahmad noted that mobile clinics can help alleviate congestion at existing hospitals.

Mobile clinics will also improve health awareness among citizens in rural communities and will help detect illnesses at an early stage.

The Sutera Mobile Clinic is run by the Avisena Specialist Hospital.

It will offer free health checks every Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. It offers outpatient treatment for common diseases like fever, cough and flu, as well as basic monitoring of chronic diseases like for high blood, diabetes and asthma.
