Mackay Memorial Hospital puts up Taiwan Alcohol Addiction and Treatment Center

The services include in-person consultation and a dedicated consultation hotline.

Mackay Memorial Hospital set up the country's first "Taiwan Alcohol Detoxification and Alcohol Addiction Prevention and Treatment Center" on November 24.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Mackay Memorial Hospital's services include in-person consultation and dedicated hotline consultation for alcohol addiction-related problems.

As the addiction problem becomes increasingly serious, the centre also provides alcohol addiction screening and referral services, promotes public awareness of alcohol and alcohol addiction, and supplies professional training to improve the quality of Taiwan's alcohol addiction treatment services from an all-round perspective.

In Taiwan, drinking culture is prevalent, with recording 8.43 million drinking population and 1 million people having binge drinking issues.
