Japan’s Juntendo Hospital develops technology for preventing patient falls

The tech was evaluated using data from about 70,000 of the hospital’s outpatients.

Japan’s Juntendo University Hospital, in partnership with Fujifilm Corporation, has developed a technology that utilises artificial intelligence (AI) in predicting outpatient fall risks.

The technology's accuracy was evaluated using data from approximately 70,000 outpatients at the hospital.

According to Juntendo Hospital, the technology was developed by generating more than 500 types of features believed to be highly correlated with fall risks based on data collected in CITA Clinical Finder, Fujifilm’s integrated medical support platform.

Moreover, the platform is linked to the hospital’s various systems, including electronic medical records, and the departments for radiology and endoscopy.

Meanwhile, both partners aim to continue with verifying the technology’s effectiveness for early practical application.
