Japanese media firm rolls out medical tourism deals for Chinese visitors

It has established a JV company in Hong Kong.

Tokyo-based digital contents service provider Media Kobo will foray into the medical tourism market through a new partnership with a Chinese investor.
Media Kobo will set up an US$730,000 (HK$5.7m) joint venture company with Bao Sheng Jie, chairman of Shanghai China Card.

The joint venture will fully launch its medical tourism service in the spring of 2019 after completing several trials, a Media Kobo official noted.

Chinese visitors make up the largest group by nationality among inbound travelers in Japan. The joint venture, which has yet to be named, will also undertake cross-border e-commerce business.
