India's Manipal Hospitals acquires 87% stake in Medica Synergie
The acquisition increases Manipal’s bed capacity to more than 10,500.
Manipal Hospitals has signed a binding agreement to acquire a majority stake of 87% in Medica Synergie valued at about $180m.
A report by GlobalData stated that the acquisition of Medica Synergie, a hospital chain based in Kolkata, allows Manipal Hospitals to oversee treatment across 37 hospitals in 19 cities and 14 states.
Moreover, the acquisition has increased Manipal’s bed capacity to more than 10,500.

Meanwhile, the hospital chain’s rebranding and integration into the network's portfolio are planned as part of the consolidation process.
“Together, we are poised to deliver enhanced, exceptional quality healthcare to our patients across Eastern India, including in the cities of Kolkata, Siliguri, and Ranchi,” Dilip Jose, Manipal Hospitals MD and CEO, said.
