India’s Amrita Hospital adopts robotic system for enhanced rehabilitation

The system utilises AI to facilitate progress in walking.

Amrita Hospital in Kochi, India has adopted the robotic gait trainer system for individuals undergoing rehabilitation from brain and spinal injuries.

According to the hospital, the device would train patients in recovery to walk longer with less dependence.

The system, developed by Gen Robotics, utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate progress in walking whilst ensuring patient safety.

Moreover, the technology features a virtual reality component, creating dynamic environments resembling everyday scenarios such as walking and social activity engagement.

The system was inaugurated by P. Rajeev, Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, and was witnessed by Amrita Hospitals’ group medical director, Prem Nair and the various department heads of the hospital.
