India launches digital database for allopathic registered doctors.

The platform allows users to add qualifications, track applications, and request NMR IDs and digital certificates.

India has unveiled the National Medical Register (NMR) portal, a digital database for allopathic (MBBS) registered doctors.

The NMR, mandated under Section 31 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019, is linked with the doctors' Aadhaar IDs, ensuring the individual’s authenticity.

Registration and qualification credentials can be manually entered and submitted through the portal, with the application automatically forwarded to the respective State Medical Council (SMC) for verification.

Meanwhile, portal users can add qualifications, track applications, and request NMR IDs and digital doctor certificates.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the NMR is designed to streamline registration processes, with all medical colleges, SMCs, and other relevant bodies interconnected via the platform.
