ICMR and NVVN to harness solar power for healthcare research institutes

Currently, seven ICMR facilities are utilising solar energy.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) to harness solar power across ICMR institutes.

As part of the MoU, NVVN will supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of rooftop solar panels at 15 institutes, with a combined capacity of 4,559 KW.

The project also includes a Power Purchase Agreement for grid-connected solar projects, offering a fixed solar tariff over the next 25 years for long-term cost efficiency and sustainability for ICMR’s operations.

Currently, seven ICMR facilities are utilising solar power from earlier initiatives.
