Hong Kong to establish centre for rare diseases in Hong Kong Children's Hospital
The upcoming facility will be located in the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital.
Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Mainland, is poised to develop a new centre dedicated to the treatment of rare diseases.
According to Health Secretary, Prof Lo Chung-mau, the centre will be located in the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital.
Furthermore, he mentioned that they will be focusing on treatments such as stem cell transplantation, chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy, and genetic therapy.
“Hopefully in the future, our babies and kids with diseases which are genetically related or extreme diseases like cancer, and those who require cardiovascular surgeries or neurosurgeries, will be given the best of care in Hong Kong Children's Hospital,” Lo said.
