Global laparoscopic devices market to grow by $4.75b by 2028

Thanks to an increasing preference for minimally invasive techniques.

The global market for laparoscopic devices is projected to grow by $4.75b by 2028 at an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.18%, according to Technavio.

The sector’s expansion is attributed to a rising preference for minimally invasive surgeries across various medical fields.

Such procedures are increasingly being adopted in ambulatory surgical centres and diagnostic facilities for treatments including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, gynaecological surgery, and bariatric surgeries.

“Innovative laparoscopic devices, including insufflation devices, closure devices, and energy systems, are being developed to address the diverse needs of healthcare providers and patients,” the report said.

The market is also witnessing a trend towards a growing interest in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery due to advancements in visualisation, ergonomics, and instrumentation.

However, challenges persist, including the risk of infection, a need for skilled professionals, and higher costs.
