DOH unveils VSMMC command centre in the Visayas region
The centre features real-time data surveillance in case of local emergencies.
The Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) has launched the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Centre (VSMMC) command centre in Cebu City to respond to health emergencies and manage disasters.
The centre has a monitoring mechanism with a live closed-circuit television (CCTV) feed and real-time data surveillance to cater to local emergencies.
In addition, the centre features an in-house queueing system watch, daily bed utilisation, patient tracking system, and electronic health record system monitoring.

“The inauguration of the command centre at VSMMC represents a crucial step towards ensuring swift and coordinated responses to health crises.” Teodoro Herbosa, DOH secretary, said.
The command centre’s launch is in line with the department’s 8-point action agenda to ensure a responsive and resilient health system for public health emergencies and crises.
