Columbia Asia Hospital launches second dialysis unit in Johor Bahru
The Malaysia-based hospital's new unit houses 11 hemodialysis stations.
Malaysia-based Columbia Asia Group has launched its second dialysis unit today at Columbia Asia Hospital – Tebrau (CAH-Tebrau) in Johor Bahru, seeking to address the rising number of renal failure patients in the state, the company said in a press release.
Dr. Tee Shin Kuan, who is heading the nephrology unit, said the dialysis services at CAH-Tebrau entail an in-house nephrologist providing clinical management of hemodialysis. Renal nurses are also on hand for each patient during their hemodialysis session.

The centre, which houses 11 hemodialysis stations that are open six days a week, also provides support services such as a dietician on site to provide consultation to the dialysis patients, supervising their menu and food intake.
In addition, the unit’s dialysis machines have an in-built “therapy data management system,” an integrated system that enables documenting and monitoring of patients’ information. The system shows dialysis treatments and medication data immediately, along with laboratory and other data related to pre-dialysis/dialysis procedures.
