Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi reduced 11.3% of greenhouse gas emmissions

It also posted a 100% landscape waste recycling rate.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi published its sustainability achievement report, recording an 11.3% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the baseline year.

The hospital also generated a 100% landscape waste recycling rate, purchases of local green produce over imports where possible, utilisation of 100% FSC-certified paper, and more.

The hospital's ec-friendly efforts include proactive equipment and facility retrofits, such as advanced lighting systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) fan motors, and air exchange rebalancing in operating theatres.

"These initiatives have resulted in a remarkable 10% reduction in energy consumption by cost, and a substantial step toward a more sustainable operating environment," read the statement.

For its 2030 targets, the hospital intends an 18% reduction in energy consumption compared to the 2017 baseline, an increase in waste recycling to 30% and a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 21%.
