China to further enhance medical treatment for critical pregnant women

The National Health Commission aims to set up the new medical treatment system by 2027.

Chinese health authorities have set plans to launch an annual evaluation of medical treatment services for women during their pregnancy and perinatal period, especially those who are in critical conditions.

According to the National Health Commission (NHC), citing a report by Xinhua News Agency, the evaluation scheme will be released to serve as a guide to local medical and health institutions to improve their treatment systems and heighten their capability.

The NHC projected that the first round of evaluation will be completed before the end of September. After which, a mechanism for the medical treatment system and utilities for critical pregnant women will be finalised by 2027.
