Bangkok Hospital invests $5.4m for robotic surgery centre

The existing facility aligns with the hospital’s five-year roadmap to expand robotic surgery capabilities.

Bangkok Hospital has invested $5.4m (THB 200m) to establish a surgery centre with operating rooms integrated with robotic platforms, such as the da Vinci Xi system.

According to the hospital, this investment allows surgeons to perform complex procedures on conditions such as urological, thoracic, gynaecological, abdominal, and hepato-pancreato-biliary diseases.

Moreover, it aligns with their five-year roadmap to expand robotic surgery capabilities, cover more specialities, and invest in education and training opportunities.

"We are dedicated to addressing the unique healthcare challenges faced by Southeast Asia, including the growing burden of cancers, an ageing population, and disparities in access to quality care,"  Ekkit Surakarn, Deputy Hospital Director of Bangkok Hospital, said.

"Our robot-assisted surgery programme is centred around delivering tangible benefits and value to our patients, while actively engaging with insurance providers to expand coverage for these advanced treatments,” Surakarn added.
