Australia to launch new ambulance station in Adelaide

It is the first of five additional metro ambulance stations being built by the government.

Australia is set to unveil the $5.3m (A$7.8m) Woodville ambulance station in the western suburbs of Adelaide.

The upcoming facility is the first of five additional metro stations being built by the government to address a critical gap in ambulance coverage within the area.

The new station will house 16 paramedics whilst serving as the base for South Australia (SA) Ambulance Service’s Western Paramedic Intern Development Team.

Meanwhile, its launch is expected to coincide with the opening of a new hospital avoidance hub at Woodville South.

The hub, named BRIGHT, will be based at the former emergency department at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where patients can be referred for urgent but non-life-threatening medical issues.

Moreover, it will provide services including consultations, medical imaging, telemetry, pathology, supported transport, community assessment and treatment, and onward referral to community care.
