Australia to launch $10m diagnostic breast care centre in Hobart

The facility’s design planning is set to start by the end of June.

Australia has announced its plans to deliver a new $10m (A$15m) public diagnostic breast centre in Hobart for improved access to imaging services.

The new centre will be located at level eight of Liverpool St. Clinics and aims to deliver service by the end of 2025.

According to Guy Barnett, the Minister for Health, Mental Health, and Well-being, the centre is set to increase capacity, reduce wait times, and ease financial impact for those requiring its services.

“The service will be a ‘one-stop-shop’ providing a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment – involving and supporting patients in decisions about their care,” Barnett said.

“Engagement of the lead architect is in progress, with design planning to start by the end of June,” Barnett added.

The centre’s full design work is expected to be completed by late November, with a planned public tender to be advertised by December.
