Australia invests $368.5m in Monash Medical Centre expansion

A seven-storey tower will include an operating complex with up to five theatres.

The Australian government has announced an investment of $368.5m (A$535m) to upgrade and expand the Monash Medical Centre in Clayton.

The expansion features a seven-storey tower that will include an operating complex with up to five theatres, an intensive care unit, and 34 pre-operative and post-operative beds.

Additionally, a Central Sterile Services Department, along with new and upgraded birthing suites and maternity beds to enhance patient care, will also be established.

Early works are set to begin in 2025, with construction expected to be completed by 2029.
