Australia forms Hospitals Victoria to enhance hospital care

The agency will streamline hospital back-office functions, including payroll and IT.

The Australian government will establish a new agency within the Department of Health called Hospitals Victoria to support hospitals in providing seamless frontline care.

One of the organisation’s key responsibilities is to identify and streamline back-office functions to improve the consolidation of hospitals’ payroll and IT systems.

Moreover, the agency will support the government's roll-out of a connected electronic medical record system amongst all Victorian hospitals, which aims to reduce delays and duplication of patient records and facilitate seamless information transfer between hospitals.
