Aster DM, Intel and CARPL launch health data security platform

Aster DM Healthcare, Intel Corporation, and CARPL worked on the platform.

As healthcare providers continue to tap AI for patient service, Aster DM Healthcare, Intel Corporation, and CARPL worked together to build a secure federated learning platform or AI health tech solution in India.

The AI tech provides solutions to resolve aspects such as security, trust, and confidentiality for optimal use of data, Intel India Country Head Nivruti Rai said in a joint statement.

Rai added that they plan to deploy the platform in the health ecosystem.

The platform was tested by using hospital data from the Kerala, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada branches of Aster Hospital.

About 125,000 chest X-Ray images, including 18,573 images picked from over 30,000 patient data from Bengaluru, were “used to train a CheXNet AI model using a two-node/site approach – Bengaluru and Vijayawada – Federated Learning” to spot issues in the X-Ray report.

The 18,573 images generated a 3% accuracy boost due to “real-world data that was otherwise unavailable for training the AI model."
