Asan Medical Center's number of overseas patients rose by 16%
A total of 18,644 patients from 118 markets had visited the hospital
South Korea-based Asan Medical Center's number of international patients rose by 16% to 18,644 in 2023 from 16,094 in 2022.
"Non-face-to-face medical treatment for foreigners conducted at the International Medical Center was actively conducted. A total of 224 cases (191 remote consultations, 33 second opinions) were conducted this year, and by country, Vietnam, Russia, and Mongolia accounted for the most," read the statement.
This stemmed from the hospital's offer to help more than 3,700 foreign medical experts from 90 countries over the past 10 years. The hospital taught these experts about medical technologies and innovations.
This year, a total of eight agreements were inked, including with Vietnam's Hoan My Medical Group and Indonesia's Siloam Hospital, and four agreements are in progress, including with the United Arab Emirates Hospital Services (EHS) and U.S. Medstar Georgetown University Hospital.
"Additionally, the number of visits from overseas medical officials to learn about Asan Medical Center's advanced medical system has increased significantly. Last year, there were 36 fam tours and 259 visitors, but this year, there were 112 fam tours and 946 visitors, which more than tripled," read the hospital's statement.
