APAC to lead growth in the global cardiac tissue engineering market

The region’s expansion is attributed to a rise in cardiovascular disease,

Asia Pacific is expected to solidify its leading position in the cardiac tissue engineering market, having emerged as the fastest-growing region in 2023, according to MarketsandMarkets.

The region’s expansion is attributed to a rise in cardiovascular conditions, primarily driven by an ageing population.

“According to the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the region's elderly population is expected to double by 2050, increasing the demand for advanced cardiac treatments,” the report said.

This shift has accelerated research investments, healthcare infrastructure, and innovative therapies in the region.

On a larger scale, the global market is projected to reach $1.3b by 2029 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.5%, on the back of increased demand for regenerative medicine and advancements in 3D bioprinting technologies.

However, high treatment costs remain a notable challenge, limiting access to wealthier patients and well-funded healthcare systems.
