Amrita Hospital Kochi unveils new department for infectious diseases

A key feature includes an adult immunisation clinic that offers vaccination services.

Amrita Hospital in Kochi, India has inaugurated a department dedicated to infectious disease management.

According to the hospital, the department will focus on providing comprehensive care for diagnosing, treating, and preventing conditions such as fevers of unknown origin (FUO), infections in immunocompromised hosts, tropical infections, post-implant infections, and more.

Moreover, preventive services will be provided, including an adult clinic that offers routine vaccinations and travel-specific immunisations.

“Additionally, they provide expert advice and preventive care consultations for travellers to minimise the risk of infections abroad,” the hospital said.

Furthermore, the department offers outpatient antimicrobial therapy and a stewardship programme aimed towards ensuring the effective use of antibiotics.
