AI to early detect breast cancer installed in Bumrungrad hospital

The AI will make use of cloud-based platform Microsoft Azure.

AI technology for spotting breast cancer and chest complications in its early stages was delivered to Thailand-based Bumrungrad hospital.

This stemmed from a contract signed by medical AI provider AI, FujiFilm Thailand, and Microsoft to provide AI cancer screening products. Under the deal, Lunit INSIGHT CXR, a CE-marked chest x-ray analysis AI software, and Lunit INSIGHT MMG, an FDA-cleared AI solution for detecting breast cancer in its early stages, are deployed.

To supply the AI solutions, the firms will be using Microsoft Azure, a cloud-based platform.

Whilst the hospital is already using Lunit’s AI solutions for check-ups, intensive care units, and emergency rooms, the AI will help the healthcare provider serve its patients better through timely detection of chest abnormalities and breast cancer.

Teeradache Viangteeravat, director of Research and development at Bumrungrad International Hospital, said AI will back doctors’ decision-making and give second opinions for diagnostic processes.

Bumrungrad is one of the biggest private hospitals in Southeast Asia, providing world-class healthcare to 1.1 million patients yearly from more than 190 different markets.
