KMU Hospital orders health tracker ‘Mother'

However, the delivery date is still unknown amid destabilised production.

Kansai Medical University (KMU) Hospital has placed an order to purchase ‘Mother’, which claims to be the world’s first self-charging health activity tracker, a press release confirmed. The order came in effect after it was showcased in the consumer electronics show (CES) this year.

This wearable band was developed by Medirom, a nationwide salon chain headquartered in Tokyo, Japan who operates under Re.Ra.Ku brands and others and it uses body heat to generate electricity through thermoelectric technology, which makes it a perpetual self-charging machine to record user’s health activity, sleep length and quality, calorie consumption, and other biometrics. The software development kit (SDK) facilitates data extraction and analysis without the need of a separate app.
