A majority (80%) of healthcare organisations have plans to invest in IT modernisation, according to the sixth annual global healthcare Enterprise Cloud Index (ECI) survey by Nutanix.
The report also revealed that 84% of organisations planned to increase their investments in AI strategies, whilst 82% also perceived AI as a challenge.
The use of hybrid multi-cloud models in healthcare is also forecasted to double over the next three years as the model’s adoption jumped from 6% to 16% from the previous year.

Meanwhile, security and compliance fluctuations and concerns are key points for organisations relocating their applications to a different infrastructure as 98% of healthcare respondents stated they moved one or more applications in the past 12 months.
The report also mentioned that multi-environment operations, security, and sustainability are top-ranked challenges in healthcare IT departments.
About 20% of respondents identified complying with data storage or usage guidelines and linking data across disparate environments as a top challenge in data management.
Following this are other data security issues such as combating ransomware and ensuring data privacy (17%).
