Pun Hlaing Hospital wins big at Healthcare Asia Awards 2022

It bagged the COVID Management Initiative of the Year, Patient Safety Initiative of the Year, and Service Delivery Innovation Initiative of the Year for Myanmar.

Pun Hlaing Hospital has clinched three major awards at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2022 for its effective COVID management strategy. It has won the COVID Management Initiative of the Year, Patient Safety Initiative of the Year, and Service Delivery Innovation Initiative of the Year for Myanmar.

The company has committed to combating the pandemic, providing assistance to the Government and the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) by providing COVID-19 testing, treatment, and containment at its customised hybrid hospital facility.

During the height of the pandemic, it has compartmentalised the hospital into two areas: the inpatient wards, and the outpatient clinics and other departments. At the same time, it has segmented the hospital into different zones, corresponding to how close the area is to being exposed to COVID-19. This is to ensure safety for every person on the hospital premises and to develop a more systematised manner in which patients are being treated.

Pun Hlaing Hospital has also built a new COVID-19 testing centre totally separated from the hospital to further improve disease detection and treatment.

It has systematised clinical management guidelines and protocols for treating COVID-19 patients, from screening up to discharge. The hospital staff also conducts management planning to ensure readiness in treating patients.

Moreover, with the limited operations of other facilities due to the pandemic, the hospital has utilised its teleHealth services. It provides 24/7 on-demand services by a pool of highly experienced family practitioners. Patients can receive the right treatment from a concerned specialist anytime with just a video call.

The hospital also keeps the public engaged with educational material about the prevention of COVID-19, and proper hygiene, amongst others.

As such, Pun Hlaing Hospital has pledged to be on the frontline against the pandemic.

The Healthcare Asia Awards aims to recognise hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers that have risen above the challenges and made a remarkable impact on their patients amidst the massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
