How Hoan My Medical Corporation heed the call to curb COVID

The medical corporation received the COVID Management Initiative of the Year - Vietnam at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2022.

In 2021 when the world continues to be crippled by the global health crisis, COVID-19 cases continue to severely increase in Vietnam. The country’s health sector has been faced with a difficult situation in aiding the problem.

Seeing how things are going, Hoan My Medical Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer came to the decision that “we cannot stand by,” recognising the epidemic prevention and control work as part of the group’s responsibility.

The first volunteer campaign for COVID soldiers has been unanimously supported and has involved 123 employees of Hoan My, including doctors, nurses, technical institutes, midwives, and support staff. They had registered to the COVID-19 epidemic hotspots across the whole country.

All Hoan My hospitals in each province of the country had accompanied each local health system to participate in the nationwide campaign of COVID-19 screening tests and vaccination.

When the pandemic reached the most difficult time due to the rapid increase in cases and beyond the treatment ability of the current healthcare system, facing the increase of death cases due to lack of timely resuscitation, Hoan My decided to transfer two hospitals, Hoan My Thu Duc and Van Phuc to “COVID hospital”, with the mission to dedicate the hospital just for COVID patients.

With this undertaking, together with the efforts of the whole Hoan My system, Vietnam has been able to successfully treat thousands of COVID-19 patients who have severe, underlying diseases, as well as actively contribute millions of times of vaccination and PCR screening tests for COVID-19 in national epidemic prevention programs. This has greatly contributed to the overall success of the Vietnamese health system in the prevention and control of the pandemic.

The country has also recognised Hoan My’s dedication to people during the pandemic, with the Government and Ministry of Health has awarded merit to the group and its Chief Medical Officer for their contributions to the prevention of the spread of the virus.

The group’s swift response and commitment to curbing the spread of COVID-19 has earned the acknowledgement of Healthcare Asia Awards, as Hoan My brings home the COVID Management Initiative of the Year - Vietnam award. The awards programme aims to honour hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers that have risen above the challenges and made a remarkable impact on their patients amidst the massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
